For anyone out of town who'd like to watch our slide, check these links.
I, and quite a few other people in town, spent a few hours this evening watching this hillside come apart. If you don't live here in Jackson, google info on the Walgreens landslide. It's been visibly moving for a few weeks now, but today big slabs started coming down one after another. The house you can see to and center above is splitting in half. The road and parking lot have splits and heaves up to 2 feet high where the ground has pushed up through the pavement. Sad for the people who lived up there, and those who work in the businesses at the base of the slide who are all out of work, but really interesting to watch. I normally think of ground a solid. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow, so that will probably further destabilize the slope. I guess we'll see what happens next...
